Twitches in England

Four holi days in England, first twitching the Brown Shrike in Surrey, then visiting the Hooded Merganser at Radipole Lake, Portland, on the way to Cornwall. It took just five second to locate the merganser, within a flock of ducks feeding on bread thrown by a yound child (tufted and mallards). This bird first arrived in Portland on 5th June 2008, in brown first-summer plumage, and fed originally in a natural way. It changes its behaviour when it moved to Radipole lake by 15th June. However, Common Mergansers do exactly the same on the Léman lake, as do many ducks species there (wigeon, gadwall, tufted, pochard, ferrugineous...).

After the twitch of the strange greenish-green warbler at Church Cove, I moved to St Levan to see the Radde's Warbler there, seen down to 3 meters, close to ground or even up in the trees. A pity I have such a poor camera... but soon christmas

Loved to bird Porthgwarra every day, though found nothing rare there. The only excellent bird I found during my trip was the returning adult summer-plumaged Pacific Diver in Mount's Bay at Long Rock Beach, Marazion. I will post soon a description and the drawings I made of the bird.
