EORC launched

Today we officially launched the Egyptian Ornithological Rarities Committee. Ten members are in: Sherif Baha el Din, Mindy Baha el Din, Ahmed Riad, Mary Megalli (secretary), Richard Bonser, Richard Hoath, Andrew Grieve, Tomas Haraldsson, Pierre-André Crochet and me. I have been working quite hard since a few months to organize it, with the dedicated help of many members and of an external committee advisor, Istvan Moldovan.
The EORC will ratify records of all species new for Egypt since the publication of the book 'The Birds of Egypt' by Goodman & Meininger in 1989 (up to five records from 1990 to 2009). 37 records are already circulating. A list of rarities will also soon be released, which records 2010 onwards should be submitted to the committee.

Any record should be sent to the secretary at mary.megalli_at_gmail.com

Long life to the EORC!
