EGYPTE - 2 March
Waked up very early by calls for the 5am prey. Discovered a Rock Martin nest within the hotel, before having a dead-long breakfast in the village, further driving around: 'just' a close flying Yellow-billed Stork again, and a infinitie streamline of between 1500-2000 Great Cormorants migrating north on the lake. Impressive. We then headed to the police gate, hopping to be able to drive by ourselves, but had to wait for the 9:00 convoy back to Aswan at noon. Drive up to Edfu, with some short stops at 'coastal' wet grasslands along the Nile, but no Painted Snipe and no Skimmer showed up. A few waders, beautiful Pied Kingfishers, and a two-hours drive to reach the Edfu - Marsa Alam road, right up in the mountains. We had a few raptors (Steppe Buzzards and an Steppe-like eagle) in the eastern parts of the moutains, before driving down to Red Sea, ending in the beautiful Gorgonia Beach resort at night (just 1km north of the Shams Alam hotel at the entrance of the Wadi Gemal National Park).
